Santa Claus Is Coming To Town! DNCE, Fifth Harmony and a host of stars team up on Christmas fund-raising record
DNCE and Fifth Harmony and have teamed up with several other artists to record a charity single to help the homeless.
The Cake By The Ocean hitmakers and the girl group – Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui – are singing a rocking version of Christmas classic Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
They are joined by Rita Ora, Hailee Steinfeld, Charlie Puth, Tinashe and Daya all of whom are due to perform at the iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Balls across the country.
Christmas spirit: DNCE – from left, Cole Whittle, JinJoo Lee, Joe Jonas and Jack Lawless – are among the rockers who are performing on fundraising single Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, a collaboration of artists on the iHeartRadio Jingle Balls tour
The tour continues at Madison Square Garden show on Friday night in New York when special guests Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and One Direction’s Niall Horan are also set to rock the house down.
Money raised from the sales of the single will go to the Robin Hood Foundation that fights poverty and homelessness in the Big Apple.
John Sykes, the President of Entertainment Enterprises at iHeartMedia, said: ‘The homeless in New York City and across the country are hardest hit during the holiday season and it’s incredible to see that once again musicians and artists have stepped up to help those less fortunate.
‘iHeartMedia is committed to using all of our powerful assets — radio, digital, video, live events and social — in the spirit of giving back to the needy during the holidays.’
Legging it: Fifth Harmony are also performing on the single with all the profit from sales going to benefit the homeless in New York. The artists will perform the Christmas classic for the first time at the Madison Square Garden iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball in New York on Friday night
Special guest: Heartthrob Justin Bieber is due to play at Madison Square Garden
Beginning on Saturday, the song will be played on hundreds of iHeartMedia radio stations across the country through Christmas day.
And the Robin Hood Foundation has pleged to match up to $100,000 in contributions from fans and listeners
There are more than 1.8 million New Yorkers living in poverty, according to iHeartMedia’s press release.
Green queen: Ariana Grande will also make a special appearance at the New York show
Rocking it: Rita Ora, left, and Daya, also lent their vocal talents to the charity single, and will be on the stage at Madison Square Garden
More than 60,000 live in homeless shelters, including 23,000 children – enough to fill Madison Square Garden.
And it seems that although DNCE’s Joe Jonas, 27, will be performing, he didn’t recruit his brother and former Jonas Brothers band mates Nick Jonas, 24, for the festive tune despite Nick saying he is open to collaborating with him.
Asked if he would rule out working with his younger sibling, Nick recently said: ‘Never count anything out. We obviously like each other quite a bit.’
Then There’s You: Hitmaker Charlie Puth will be ticking the ivories on Friday evening
Christmas fun: Hailee Stanfield, left, and Tinashe will be among the stars debuting Santa Claus Is Coming To Town on Friday before iHeartRadio start playing it on their stations on Saturday
